poetry i have published #5

We slowly depart

From the smiles and laughter

The happy ever after

To a world of rules and money

Where wealth is everything

Get rich quick

No matter what the price

Your happiness?

Your soul?

As long as you can buy a house

To live in for years, strong

Though you slowly crumble

From the repetition

Of the workplace

Day in day out

Why dream of anything else?

What else can there be?

Why have nothing but be happy?

When you can have a house worth lots of money

But is it a home?
